OMG! We made it on the COVER of the June 2012 issue of Seattle’s Child magazine!
We also have a two-page spread on pages 12 & 13!
AND we’re also currently on the front page of the Seattle’s Child website!
Are you as excited as we are?! *SCREAMS* We are SO ECSTATIC!!!! We were actually doing a similar Crazy Happy Dance late last week when we first found out Mini BREAKS made the cover of the magazine! A friend of one our student’s (rad b-boy Mateus) mom noticed that said mom’s son was on the cover of June’s issue of Seattle’s Child magazine when she was at a local QFC store. Upon being told her son was on the magazine, Lydia, aka said mom, then tagged our instructor Anna Banana Freeze in a post on Facebook. After we heard the news, we commenced screaming, jumping up and down, crazy-dancing and squeezing our mascot, Alaina, sporadically on and off throughout the weekend.
Just two hours ago, Seattle’s Child told us they just published the Mini BREAKS feature online. We were so hysterically happy upon receiving the message that we frantically ran home so that we could officially share this AWESOME news with you all! *Pauses to do CRAZY HAPPY DANCE again*
So how the heck did this happen!? Is it because our karma is so on-point right now?! We don’t know! But logistically, it’s because Geek Mom Kelly Knox (mama of Madelyn, another one of our wonderful students) wanted to spread the word about Mini BREAKS and asked Seattle’s Child if she could write a parent review of our class. The magazine said yes! Soon after we did a quick interview with Kelly, photographer Thor (awesome name!) Radford of Radford Creative visited our May 18th Super Saturday class. He mentioned we might make the cover if he got some great shots, but couldn’t promise anything.
It was so hard not to pray for the cover as we waited for May to end – we didn’t want to jinx it! Fortunately, we DID make it on to the cover!
And we are so GRATEFUL! We feel so blessed for all the families that have brought in their beautiful children to dance, for the children themselves for being so bright and open in sharing their ideas/moves/energy with all during each class, for everyone who has spread the word about Mini BREAKS and has contributed to supporting our studio, The Beacon, and especially to Kelly, Thor and Seattle’s Child for shining even more light on what we do at Mini BREAKS!
If you are nowhere near a public library, grocery store, preschool, children’s museum/doctor’s office, etc. in Washington state and would like to check out our article online, you may do so HERE!
This is such an AMAZING way to start off our child-mascot’s 7th birthday! 😉 Thank YOU for reading and please feel free to share this great news!
